Recently updated to Windows xp sp3 since which my back up through Norton software doesn't recognise my cd writer has a cd in it. The problem seems to be that in the updating process a very old mainly unused piece of software is being used to write the cd. the software is acdsee but I do not know h.

When trying to write to a blank CDR (tried 3 brands) the XP wizard reports no recordable CD in the drive. When trying a CDR with data on it that has been closed and finalised it reports that the CD is full or write protected (as expected).
